German producer, Ben Champell makes his second appearance on Kaiser Souzai’s Berlin label, Ballroom Music with a first-rate 3 track EP of explosive techno. Leading with ‘The Night Flight’ Champell takes the energy up with domineering synths, pounding drums and stinging high hats, a contrast to ‘Dream On’ which lowers the tone with a 6AM ripper, it’s throbbing bass and driving high hats elevating it’s tight percussions into a dancefloor monster. The final track ‘The Dark Streets Of Berlin’ is exactly that – a raw trippy hook with dark undertones, rhythmic beats and addictive grooves which conjures an image of those darker Berlin nights.
After creating productions under the name of ‘Massive B’, Ben Champell decided to rebrand himself in 2012 – armed with his new name and outlook he kicked things off by releasing tracks such as ‘Loose Pressure’ and ‘Forget love, DANCE’ which were showcased by many, including Umek who introduced him in his weekly radio show. 2014 saw Champell team up with Monococ to release EP’s on labels across the world including Banana Republic Music, PP Music, Smash Music and Deep Alliance to name only a few. The last year has seen him debut on Ballroom Music and release on No Logik and Undercool, setting him up for a big year ahead in 2016 where his recognition in creating quality techno will be second to none.
Another stellar release from the techno minds of Ballroom Music, set to drop end of March.
